Towards the end of my 40 mile drive through the D0i Suthep Mountains, I reached the Queen Sirikit’s Botanical Gardens. Thankful for my scooter, I made it to the top of the steep hills, passing beautiful fields of purple and white flowers, banana trees and vistas.
The garden in includes an indoor and outdoor waterfall, several greenhouses each featuring native and imported flowers and plants in different climates. Its a beautiful walk, and refreshingly peaceful after spending time in the busy city. A handful of tourists sipped on iced coffees, lounging in cafe next to the gift shop.
Towards the foothills, visitors find an ecological research facility, herbarium, orchid nursery and seed bank.
